Culturally Informed Counselling
At the heart of the way in which I practice is a commitment to walking alongside you on your unique journey of self-discovery and growth.
I am passionate about creating a space where individuals feel seen, heard, and truly understood. As a black psychotherapist, I believe it’s crucial to honour the diverse backgrounds and experiences that shape each one of us, which is why ensuring that my practice is culturally informed is so important to me. I endeavour to create a welcoming, warm, and non-judgmental environment where you can bring your full authentic self.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London as well as two certificates in Counselling (Level 2 and Level 3) from Barking and Dagenham College. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their ethical framework and am committed to providing professional, high-quality therapy.
I work with clients who may be experiencing a range of issues, such as anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, identity issues, grief & bereavement, cultural issues, trauma, and relationship difficulties. Whatever your unique challenge may be, I am here to support you with empathy, respect, and care.
As an qualified Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist, I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership; working with you to meet your distinct needs using a range of therapeutic modalities.
I utilise the Person-Centred Approach to create a supportive environment where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Additionally, I draw on the Psychodynamic Approach to understand how your past influences your present, shedding light on patterns that impact your life today. I also integrate mindfulness practices, equipping you with practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, and depression both during and beyond our sessions.
My approach recognises the significance cultural context has in shaping us and as a result, I work in a culturally informed manner respecting, acknowledging and integrating the diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences of clients from the global majority into the therapeutic process.
I offer weekly, one-on-one online therapy sessions via Zoom, each lasting 50 minutes, at a rate of £65 per session.
Our journey begins with an initial consultation, during which we'll discuss the way I work, your current needs, goals, and any questions you may have. The consultation gives you the opportunity to determine if I am the right fit for you.
If you decide to proceed, we'll move forward with an assessment session to explore your background and current challenges, allowing us to tailor the way we work specifically for your needs.
